My client hired me shortly after he was laid off. His intention was to find work that would support him and his teenage daughter. Because of the nature of his skills, his needs, and the local economy my strategy with him was to help him create immediate income through self-employment. We were successful in creating enough income through self-employment to meet his basic needs after only three months of coaching.
After stabilizing his immediate situation, we then explored the other areas of his life. Through coaching, he strengthened his personal boundaries and learned tools which made him a more effective parent. We discovered unresolved grief which was interfering with his ability to create a healthy new relationship, and we laid it to rest. We began to explore the kind of employment he would want to have for the long term. When we closed our coaching relationship, he had been hired by a company he respected and was dating a woman with whom he planned to build his future.
