My client, a special education teacher, came to me with a serious conflict in her marriage. After years of tolerating her husband’s drinking, she was ready to make a change and wanted support to make sure it happened in the best way possible.
We started by making sure that she was emotionally ready to be on her own. She worked to forgive the past while still holding healthy boundaries in the present. She realized that her brother, who had special needs, was adding to the stresses in her marriage by living in her home and she worked to help him get the care he needed to live on his own. As she cleared her heart and made space for her future, she began to sort the contents of the house in preparation for it to be sold. During this time she began to prioritize her spiritual practice in a powerful new way.
We then focused on making sure she was financially ready to be on her own. Since she was still teaching, she started by bringing a more authentic presence to her school district. She decided to launch a business that would give her extra income into the years of her retirement. Together we laid the groundwork for her new career, and she took the leap into retirement.
When our coaching relationship came to a close she was happily living on her own, taking care of herself, and exploring the field of new possibilities.
