My client, the CEO of a small company, came to me in the year that he suffered the loss of four loved ones. His grief and pain were overwhelming and he needed to create space and time for himself to process his feelings. My strategy with him was twofold: first, to support his natural grieving process; and second, to add staff to his business so he would be able to take more time for himself.
Coaching helped him move through the resistance he felt towards adding more staff, and he hired an office manager who was able to take many responsibilities off his shoulders and free up time for his inner process. While his business thrived, he began to explore his connection with the spiritual world and discovered a new way to think about death and loss. He put his thoughts and explorations into a book, which he soon published.
As his grief cleared, he was able to envision a higher level of professional success and began building strategic partnerships with associates around the globe. When we closed our coaching partnership, he was well on his way to reaching benchmark goals for his business that he had never before been able to imagine.
